Trained as a youth educator, his impact on young people and their families earned him the name Mr. RAWbert – creating experiences with them with respect and wonder as their foundation. Mr. RAWbert used experience, storytelling and human connection to help people navigate complex environments. What started as teaching in and out of classrooms, soon evolved into advocacy, program development, and eventually systems-level change work. His gift was clear. Mr. RAWbert could talk about the differences that make a difference in ways that felt human, honest, connected and actionable.
That gift expanded into consulting organizations and leaders, speaking on stages across the country, authorship of scholarly articles, and award winning organizational leadership. Robert led diversity, health equity, and inclusion programs at Children’s Hospital Colorado for nearly a decade. He previously served as Health Equity Officer of the Colorado Public Health Association, led training for the City and County of Denver, and supported several statewide community-impact organizations. Today, as Executive Educator at Seven Focus, LLC, Mr. RAWbert challenges entire institutions to learn how to recognize differences, talk through their important impacts, and leverage them to inspire stronger teams and better outcomes. The Seven Focus team is guided by the belief that the seeds planted seven generations ago shape us today, Robert continues creating learning spaces that become catalysts for the generations ahead.
People often ask Mr. RAWbert what work he is most proud of. His answer is always the same: the most important work has not yet been completed, because the work of equity and reciprocal understanding lives across generations. His clients, customers and colleagues describe him as a grounding presence, a memorable storyteller, a strategist who asks the questions others avoid and a leader who refuses to let difference become a barrier.
At his core, Mr. RAWbert remains as he began:
An educator determined to help people succeed by understanding one another.
Mr. RAWbert’s guide:
Translating success through talking about the differences that matter.
“I have listened to Robert present at least 10 times yet every time, I walk away with another new perspective and immense appreciation for the work he has done and inspires us all to do. I learn something new or think about a scenario in a different way each time I hear him talk. ”
Annual Ethics Conference Keynote
“I want to express my deepest gratitude for the stories you shared … Your courage and unwavering commitment to living by your principles touched me in a profound way. The way you spoke of advocating for young people in the LGBTQIA+ community moved me to tears…The authenticity and heart you brought into that space left an imprint that will continue to ripple outward….Your stories opened the door for others to share glimpses of their own, creating a circle of honesty and belonging. In these times, when so many are wrestling with uncertainty and division, you remind us of the choices we can make to stay true to ourselves. You showed that even when we cannot change everything, we still have agency to do what we can, when we can—and that matters deeply….Your example reminds us that true leadership is not about position. It is about choosing to stand for what matters most—even when it is hard. Thank you for reminding us of the kind of courage that creates lasting change and the kind of love that unites us all.”
“I can’t measure the impact, but contrary to common thought, not everything has to be “evidence based” – some things can just be true because of lived experience, and that is data enough. I recognize your vision and leadership and effort has been at the forefront of all of these initiatives, and you’ve provided guidance and support through the related struggles while also remaining a supportive ally … I am one of many who have benefitted from your visions brought to life and how they have enhanced the experience of being an employee here…enhanced the ability to sometimes be a whole person while here.”
